The man with a steady mind is
strong in his objective. But without affection towards it. He does not
experience happiness when good things happen to him and does not experience
aversion when bad things happen. Akin to
a tortoise that can instantaneously withdraw its limbs from all the sides, the
man with the ability to withdraw his emotions from his objective will be able
to hold to his steady mind. An abstinent person who can hold his senses and
emotions, does not have worldly experiences (vile and guile). Only passion left
within him is for the ultimate knowledge. After achieving that knowledge, all
his desires perish.
